What a splendid one it is. Tell me, how was it delivered? Wrapped in golden sunlight? Kissed by misty fog? Serenaded by proud larks? Did you ever, in your wildest dreams, imagine being given such a treasure? 84,000 heartbeats. 1,440 minutes. A complete rotation of the earth. 24 unlived, unexplored hours. A brand, spanking new day! "Uh, Max," you wonder, "do we inhabit the same planet?" My day, a gift? You failed to mention the features of my day. Arthritis, laundry, homework, deadlines, long lines, that ever-elusive bottom line. Each day a gift? You may find such an idea hard to imagine. And what of those days of double shadow? The seasons you never leave a hospital bed or wheelchair. The days you wake up and go to sleep in the same prison cell or battle zone. When cemetery dirt is still fresh, the pink slip still in your pocket, the bed still empty -- who can imagine having good days on these days? Most don't...but wouldn't you love to try? Doesn't every day deserve at least a chance to be a good day? Scripture would say so. 1. Pronouncement: "This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24 NKJV).
