01 You Can't Give What You Don't Receive - Come Thirsty (MP3)Introduction to Max's series about receiving the gift of God's love. Download this message for free! Do you know what it means to be tired? You ever feel weary? We get tired. We get overlooked, overworked, overdrawn, over-heated. We get tired. All of us do. Weariness is not a matter of age. I have a newspaper clipping describing a stress management class of middle-schoolers. Weariness comes, not with years, but with existence. Everyone gets tired. Consequently, everyone tries to cope. Problem: no solution is permanent. The best vacation ends. The ideal job has drawbacks. The new spouse has hang-ups. Is there no solution for this weariness? Jesus has one. And he displayed it during the first Easter weekend. John 13:1-8 1. The Hesitation of Peter: Not me. 2. The Declaration of Jesus: Not without me. 3. The Invitation of God: Receive from me. a. Receive God's Love b. Receive God's Oversight c. Receive God's Victory d. Receive God's Energy Lord I come thirsty. I come to drink, to receive. I receive your love. Nothing can separate me from your love. I receive your oversight. I belong to you. You look out for me. I receive your victory. My sins are pardoned and my death is defeated. And I receive your energy. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength. Date preached: April 23, 2003 (Easter)
