14 With God As Your Guardian - Come Thirsty (MP3)Did I read what I think I just read? "Found...Pot-Bellied Pig." I'd never seen such an announcement. Similar ones, sure, but who loses a pig? I know many pet owners; but pig-pet owners? What's it like to provide daily care for a pig? Those who do must be a special breed. Even more, those who rescue them. Who, upon spotting a pig lumbering down the street, opens the car door and invites, "Climb in little piggy, piggy, piggy. The street is no place for a lonely sow. I'll take you home." Suppose one appeared on your porch. Upon hearing a snort at your front door, would you provide protection for the pig? Not me. Who would claim one? Care for one? God would. God did. God did when He claimed us. Don't you occasionally feel like one? In a world of golden retrievers and St. Bernards can you relate to snout-nosed snorts? We assume God cares for the pure-breds of the world. The clean-nosed, tidy-lifed, convent-created souls of society. God sees them on the streets, the door swings open. But what about the rest of us? We're prone to wander. We find ourselves far from home. Do we warrant His oversight? Psalm 91:1-16 1. Declaration: God will be your guardian. 2. Clarification: then why do bad things happen to me? 3. Invitation: God guards those who turn to Him. Date preached: September 14, 2003
