How would you describe Peter on the night before Christ's death? Would you call him courageous? Bold? Strong? Hardly. A servant girl, whom he does not know, asks if he isn't one of the friends of Jesus. And what does Peter do? He melts like ice cream in July. He not only denies Christ---he curses Christ. Sound like a man of courage to you?

But look at him fifty days later. In the same city, speaking to the same people who crucified Jesus, he preaches the sermon that gave birth to the church. What happened to him? What got into Peter? Whatever it is, couldn't we use some? We tend to wimp out ourselves. Our convictions have been known to fold. Peter is not the first or last to wimp out. But he went from wimp to warrior. Can we? I think we can. With God as our helper, we'll see how God makes it happen.
