14 Finally His - Finally Home Series (MP3)"Then I, John, saw the holy city, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband" (Revelation 21:2 NKJV). Look at this language: are we reading a Bible or a bridal magazine? Why does scripture persist in describing the great day as a wedding day? The answer comes quickly, doesn't it? Something happens in a wedding that happens no other day in no other event. The intimacy, romance, physical union, complete surrender. Heaven is understood, not as a takeover, merger, amalgamation or partnership, but as a wedding between Christ and his bride, the church. To understand heaven, you must understand a wedding; specifically you must understand the weddings of ancient Israel. I. The dedication of the groom. 1 Peter 1:18-19 II. The preparation of the bride and place. John 14:2-3 III. The completion of the marriage. Revelation 21:3 Date preached: July 22, 2007
