08 The Church of the Desperate - Facing Your Giants (MP3)
Listen to a Sample
The desperate man sits in the corner of the church assembly. He feels out of place in a room of disciples, but where else can he go? He's scared, guilty, and alone. He could be an addict or a thief. He could be a "she" ...single, pregnant, confused. He could be any number of people, for any number of people come to God's people in his condition... hopeless, hapless. How will the congregation react? Will he encounter the grace of Ahimelech or the disdain of Doeg? Though the names in our churches are different, the attitudes of the hearts are quite the same. The 3,000-year-old story of David, Ahimelech, and Doeg replays itself each week, each time the desperate heart seeks sanctuary.
