12 Loving the Left Out - Facing Your Giants (MP3)

Listen to a Sample

I'm twelve years old seated in my parents' bedroom next to their phone awaiting a call. I'm hoping a coach from one of the Little League teams will call and tell me I've made his baseball team. But the phone never rang. Maybe it didn't for you either. The job, the club, the girl never called. Everyone knows what it's like to feel left out. We've even got phrases for it. He was "left holding the bag." She was "left standing at the altar." They were "left out in the cold." Or --my favorite--  they were "left guarding the supplies at Brook Besor." What happened at Brook Besor is a model of inclusion. Those who felt left out were brought in and David proved that he was a leader who loved his people.

I Samuel 30

I.     Devastation at the Camp
II.    Exhaustion at the Brook
III.   Provision in the Desert
IV.  The Decision of David

Date preached: July 31, 2005
