10 Beyond a Shadow of a Doubt - Traveling Light (MP3)Listen to a Sample I recently met a woman who, after sixteen years of searching, learned the whereabouts of her brother. In the early stages of schizophrenia, Eric had walked out of his home at the age of 28 and never come back. The voices inside his head had tormented him for nearly two decades. And since he left his home in Florida, he had been living as a homeless person, rarely accepting any assistance. His sister and her family traveled from New England to San Antonio and were eager to help. Eric was less than impressed with his newfound family. But his sister did not leave. Days turned to weeks which turned to months, but she did not return home. She stayed nearby, never giving up hope of a relationship until the day cancer took his life, less than a week after he finally recognized his sister's face. Her pursuit of her brother reminds me of Christ's pursuit of us. Remember the words of the psalmist? "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life" (Psalm 23:6) The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters; He restores my soul; He leads me in paths of righteousness for His name?s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For you are with me; Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint me head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Date preached: July 26, 1998
